MINA means Me in isiZulu. Mina also means Protector in Dutch and Love in German. There is a MINA within all of us and that is how we identify with each other. Mina is your friend and is here to guide and walk through this journey with you. Mina is smart and confident and her circumstances does not define who she is, it is what she makes of it. MINA is about you and, YOU matter to us.

Our journey began in 2015, as females ourselves we believe in catering to your needs during your period. Odour, infection and excessive discharge are just some of the troubles that can affect our confidence and well-being. We wanted to create a menstrual product which addresses these issues and something we could use comfortably as we went about our day.
We quickly realised the need for a sanitary product that breaks the status quo. Since then, we have worked hard to develop a product with our community, so it reflects exactly what they want. There was nothing we found that was as comfortable, easy to use and eco- friendly as MINA. MINA has helped us to become authentic ourselves and now, we want to share that with you.

As South Africans, we believe in ubuntu and helping other women and so, for every MINA you buy we will gift one to a girl who is in need. Girls who can’t afford sanitary products end up missing school during their period. This is equivalent to 1 year of schooling! This clearly set girls back from their growth and together we can end period poverty by ensuring that no girl ever has to miss a day of school because of a period.

Mina Menstrual Cups are made of 100% premium medical grade silicon and are FDA approved. We also have a SAHPRA (South African Health Products Regulatory Authority) licence approved as a safe and quality assured product which means it has been approved for biocompatibility and hypoallergenic. This refers to the silicone being safe to use internally for an extended period of time. Our Mina cups contain zero toxins, no latex and are BPA free.
To ensure that our cups do not leach any substance into the body, we put our cups through third-party testing to ensure consumer safety and we’re happy to say our cups pass the test! Because silicon is set in a permanent bond, it cannot melt and nothing can ever leach out.
